On February 15 the Tokyo Metropolitan Government approved construction plans for the Jingumae 6 Chome district redevelopment. The site is located in a prime retail position at the corner of Omotesando Avenue and Meiji Dori Street and above the Meiji-jingumae subway station.

The Parkhouse Gran Minami Aoyama 4 Chome reaches completion

The Parkhouse Gran Minami Aoyama 4 Chome, a luxury low-rise condominium in Tokyo’s Omotesando neighborhood, has reached completion this month. 

This is part of Mitsubishi’s ‘The Parkhouse Gran’ series of apartments which represent their highest offering. Sales were held completely off-market, with no public advertising, and all apartments sold out before completion.

Omotesando retail sells for 12.2 billion Yen

A small retail building behind the Prada Boutique in Omotesando has sold for 12.2 billion Yen (approx. 108 million USD). The Japan Retail Fund Investment Corporation, an affiliate of Mitsubishi Corporation, acquired the trust beneficiary rights to the property on October 25.

Former apartment building in Omotesando to be redeveloped into retail

The vintage Minami Aoyama 571 apartment building in Omotesando has been demolished to make way for a retail store. The former building was privately developed in 1988 with 4 apartments over 4 floors. Back in early 2015 a full floor apartment was listed for sale for approximately 270 million Yen - a relative steal since it included a 130 sqm share of the land. Unfortunately several of our clients passed on this opportunity. Not long after, the apartment owners appear to have sold the building and land at an undisclosed but potentially attractive price. It was demolished several months ago by the new owner - a large real estate developer.

Sumitomo to redevelop former Floracion Hotel in Omotesando

Sumitomo Realty & Development has acquired the former Hotel Floracion Aoyama in Omotesando and plans to redevelop the site, although details on the future project have yet to be announced. Demolition of the 3 ~ 6 story building is expected to take place between March and August.

The 5,700 sqm site is a 5 minute walk from Omotesando Station. A freehold land parcel of this size and this close to Omotesando Station is incredibly rare.Read more


Construction starts on Omotesando public housing redevelopment

Construction on the Kita Aoyama 3 Chome District Project began on March 1. This is the redevelopment of the former Aoyama Kitamachi Apaato public housing complex located just behind Omotesando Station.

The redevelopment is being carried out under a joint venture between Tokyo Tatemono, Mitsui Fudosan, Mitsui Fudosan Residential and Kajima Corporation. The exterior has been designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates - the same architect as the nearby Olympic Stadium which is currently under construction.Read more


Omotesando's Seihou Building to be redeveloped

A 51-year old retail and public housing building alongside Aoyama Dori Avenue in Omotesando will soon be rebuilt. The 10-storey Seihou Building was built in 1967 and has a total floor area of 6,075 sqm (65,000 sq ft). It is jointly owned by a subsidiary of Mizuho Bank and the Urban Renaissance Agency.

The new building will have a total floor area or 16,000 sqm (172,000 sq ft), more than 2.5 times the size of the older building.Read more
