A 3-story retail building alongside Kotto-dori Street in Omotesando has reportedly sold for 5.383 billion Yen (approx. US$37 million). The seller was the Japan Metropolitan Fund Investment Corporation, a J-REIT. The buyer was not disclosed but is a domestic corporation.Read more

Rinnai Corporation has acquired Forest Hills East and West in Omotesando for an undisclosed price. The two buildings have a total floor size of 5,551 sqm (59,700 sq.ft) and sit on 1,843 sqm of land in the Minami Aoyama 4 Chome address.Read more

Last year, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government released the environmental impact statement for the Kita Aoyama 3 Chome Redevelopment project. This will see former public housing in Omotesando replaced with a 180-meter tall mixed-use high rise.
Tokyo cancels refurbishment of Children’s Castle
On May 9, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced the cancellation of a planned refurbishment of the National Children’s Castle property in Omotesando. The property will continue to be used as an oxygen and medical care station for coronavirus patients.
The popular arts and entertainment complex closed in 2015. It was sold by the national government to Tokyo in 2019 for approximately 52 billion Yen.

Avex looks to sell Omotesando headquarters
On November 10, Toyo Keizai Online reported that major music producer Avex is making moves to sell its 18-story headquarters in Minami Aoyama, Tokyo. Avex would then lease the building back from the buyer.
