Redevelopment committee approved for 228m+ Shinjuku towers
On February 1, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government approved the formation of the redevelopment committee for the Nishi-Shinjuku 3 Chome West District Redevelopment. This project will see the creation of two 62 and 63-story high-rise towers containing over 3,200 apartments.

Ginza landmark to be demolished
Demolition of the San'ai Dream Center, a landmark building on the Ginza 4 Chome intersection, will start next month. The circular building was designed by Shōji Hayashi, chief architect of Nikken, and completed in 1963. In 2003 it was chosen by DOCOMOMO Japan as one of the buildings that represent the modernist movement.

New apartment price in Tokyo hits 32-year high
The average price of a brand-new apartment released for sale across greater Tokyo in 2022 reached 62.88 million Yen, up 0.4% from 2021 and the highest level on record since 1990 when prices were 62.14 million Yen.

Greater Tokyo sees net inflow of 99,000 residents in 2022
The Tokyo metropolitan area saw a net inflow of 38,023 residents in 2022, up from a 5,433 net increase seen in 2021, as the capital emerged from a pandemic. This was the largest net inflow in all of Japan’s 47 prefectures.
