Redevelopment committee approved for 228m+ Shinjuku towers
On February 1, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government approved the formation of the redevelopment committee for the Nishi-Shinjuku 3 Chome West District Redevelopment. This project will see the creation of two 62 and 63-story high-rise towers containing over 3,200 apartments.

Ginza landmark to be demolished
Demolition of the San'ai Dream Center, a landmark building on the Ginza 4 Chome intersection, will start next month. The circular building was designed by Shōji Hayashi, chief architect of Nikken, and completed in 1963. In 2003 it was chosen by DOCOMOMO Japan as one of the buildings that represent the modernist movement.
Kenzo Tange-designed gymnasium to be demolished
Despite the best efforts of preservation groups and years of deliberations by local government, the brutalist curved concrete Kagawa Prefectural Gymnasium is heading to demolition, with the prefecture setting aside a budget of 46 million Yen to tear down the landmark building.

The average price of a brand-new apartment released for sale across greater Tokyo in 2022 reached 62.88 million Yen, up 0.4% from 2021 and the highest level on record since 1990 when prices were 62.14 million Yen.
