On June 24, the Tokyo Governor approved the formation of the redevelopment committee for the Toranomon 1 Chome East District Project. This will see a 180-meter tall office tower built just in front of Toranomon Station.

The project site covers 6,400 sqm of land that is currently filled with smaller office buildings, restaurants, and izakayas over three small city blocks. It is next door to the 119-meter tall Tokyo Toranomon Global Square office tower that was completed in 2020.

The 29-story development is being led by Chuo-Nittochi, the Urban Renaissance Agency, and Sumitomo Realty & Development. The total floor space of 120,700 sqm will include office, retail, and a business innovation hub with conference and event spaces.

Construction is tentatively scheduled to start in July 2023 with completion in late 2026. The total project cost is estimated at 108.4 billion Yen (approx. US$801 million).
