The 90-year old former headquarters of Nintendo will be converted into a boutique hotel. The conversion project will see the historic building refurbished into a 20-room hotel with a restaurant, and guest gym and baths.

The exterior of the building will be kept as original as possible, while alterations and additions will be made to the structure. Opening is scheduled for mid-2021.

Tadao Ando is in charge of design supervision, with NOM Architectural Design Office in charge of design and Obayashi Corporation in charge of construction. Hospitality company Plan Do See Inc are responsible for development and hotel operations.

The property is owned by Nintendo’s asset management firm. It sits just a block west of Kamo River and is a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station.
