Preliminary images of the jaw-dropping design for the proposed Langham hotel in Tokyo have been released.
The twisting high-rise tower is designed by Kengo Kuma and will be developed by PEAK, the global development arm of Great Eagle. It will have 280 guest rooms, a wedding chapel, and the highest onsen in Tokyo to have unobstructed views towards Mt. Fuji.
Great Eagle acquired the 4,000 sqm plot of land in 2015 for a reported 22.2 billion Yen (approx. US$185 million at the time). The total project cost is estimated somewhere in the region of 50 billion Yen. The hotel was originally scheduled to open in 2019, but the site remains vacant.
