City in Nagano giving away two onsens
A city in Nagano Prefecture is giving away two of its hot spring resorts for free. With declining visitors and ongoing maintenance and operation costs, this disposal of the two assets will reduce the strain on the city’s finances.
Nagano ski field closes due to lack of snow, skiers, buyers
The Iizuna Kogen Ski Area in Nagano will close in March due to a declining domestic ski industry and a lack of snow. Nagano City has had no luck finding anyone interested in taking over the 60 hectare ski fields.
Nagano hot spring ryokan foreclosed a second time
The Rinsenro Kashiwaya Bessou Ryokan is up for foreclosure auction for a second time, this time with a minimum bid is set at 25,168,000 Yen (approx. 230,000 USD). Bidding is open from November 29 to December 6, with the winning bid to be announced on December 11.
Hot-spring inn sells for 42 million Yen at public auction
In November 2018, a Gifu-based real estate company purchased a historic Japanese inn at a public foreclosure auction. The winning bid was 42,790,000 Yen.
Land foreclosed within Hakuba ski fields for first time
The ski resort town of Hakuba in Nagano Prefecture recently held an internet auction for several parcels of land within ski fields. This is the first time the town has foreclosed on land that forms part of a ski course.
Four parcels of land were within the Hakuba Iwatake Ski Fields and seven parcels of land were within the Hakuba Goryu Ski Area. They ranged in size from 500 ~ 9,000 sqm, but only made up a tiny portion of the total ski field area. Prices ranged from 1.3 ~ 3.9 million Yen. Read more
