Nagano ski field closes due to lack of snow, skiers, buyers
The Iizuna Kogen Ski Area in Nagano will close in March due to a declining domestic ski industry and a lack of snow. Nagano City has had no luck finding anyone interested in taking over the 60 hectare ski fields.
Construction Co. to demolish 90-year old western-style house in Nagano
The historic Shinshu-Kaikan building in Nagano City will be demolished to make way for a 15-storey apartment building.
It was built as the residence of Kyushichi Kobayashi, the first president of the Nagano Jitsugyo Bank (which later merged to become the Shinano Bank). The actual year of construction is unknown, although it is estimated to be approximately 90 years old. Developer abandons plans for resort in Nagano
Haseko Corporation announced on January 14 that they have abandoned their plan to build a resort in the Okutateshina onsen area in Chino City, Nagano Prefecture.
Haseko said the decision was a financial one as the project's profitability was in question. Read more
