Offshore-domiciled funds and non-resident foreigners acquired 171 hectares of forest land in 2024, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Japan has 14.31 million hectares of privately-owned forest, with 3,044 hectares or 0.02% owned by offshore entities.
