ABOUT

This apartment sold in October 2022 and is no longer available.

Park Mansion Mita Tsunamachi The Forest is a 11-story luxury condominium located on a large 6,100 sqm site directly south of the Australian Embassy. It is directly across the street from the gardens of the historic members-only Tsunamachi Mitsui Club as well as Mitsui’s very first Park Mansion building – Mita Tsunamachi Park Mansion (1971). The building is surrounded by carefully landscaped gardens designed by California-based Daniel Garness. The gardens also feature a number of traditional Japanese lanterns and stonework designed to blend seamlessly with the adjoining embassy.

Residents and their guests can enter via a 50-meter long sweeping driveway that leads to the formal entrance. Upon entering the foyer with stained-glass by Albano Poli and stonework by Masatoshi Izumi, they will be greeted by a concierge counter which can provide assistance with arranging housekeeping, catering, calling taxis, and so on. The 3rd floor has a fitness room with ‘Technogym’ equipment designed by Italian architect Antonion Citterio. Residents can choose to relax in the lounges, and can host functions or guests in the private villa located in a secluded corner of the grounds. The villa contains a kitchen and entertaining area, bedroom, and large bathroom with spa tub.

This is a 2-Bedroom apartment on the 2nd floor (essentially the ground floor due to the sloping nature of the site). It is north-facing and includes a 35.76 sqm terrace, walk-in closet in the main bedroom, hallway storage, and floor heating in the living/dining. A trunk room storage space is included.

FEATURES

  • Concierge

About the location:

While much of the Mita area is lowlands that was originally home to merchants and commoners, the elevated plateau of Mita-Tsunamachi was home to several stately daimyo residences. Today, the large grounds of these Edo-period mansions still remain largely intact. The Australian Embassy was once the home of the family of Marquis Hachisuka. A British-style mansion once stood on the grounds where the embassy is now located, with landscaped gardens on the southern slope (where Park Mansion is being built). It is said that samurai Watanabe-no-Tsuna was born on this site, which explains the origin of the Tsunamachi area name. Several of the large trees from the original garden have been preserved, including a large eucalyptus tree which will be a focal point in the new gardens.

To the east is the Tsunamachi Mitsui Club. This land has been in the Mitsui family since the Meiji period. The current building was built in 1913 by architect Joseph Conder.
