This June, Nomura Real Estate Development will start sales of a cross-laminated timber (CLT) hybrid apartment building near Sangubashi Station in Shibuya.
Called Proud Sangubashi, the 4-story building will have a reinforced concrete core wall and thin wall floor structure system, while the 4th floor and roof will incorporate CLT along with reinforced concrete and steel frame. Domestic-sourced CLT will account for 80 cubic meters. Wood elements will also be featured in the lobby and in accent walls within the apartments. The use of CLT will result in a 92-tonne cut in CO2 emissions during construction.
Apartments will also be fitted with under-floor central air, allowing the interiors to be kept at comfortable temperatures year-round. The building is also expected to obtain ZEH-Oriented certification.
The 19 two and three-bedroom apartments will range in size from 58.13 ~ 105.22 sqm. Completion is scheduled for May 2024.
