Sekisui House and Nippon Life Insurance Company have officially started construction on a 150-m tall office tower near Tameike Sanno Station.

The Akasaka 2 Chome Project will see a 28-story office building with a total floor area of 74,000 sqm (796,000 sq.ft) for a 5,988 sqm site alongside Sotobori Street and across from Sanno Park Tower. Lower floors will include retail space. The building is expected to attain a five-star BELS rating and ZEB Oriented energy efficient certification.

This was the former site of the Kokusai Akasaka Building. The 19-story building built in 1973 had a total floor area of 62,700 sqm. Back in 2006, daVinci Holdings paid 100 billion Yen for the building and land before surrounding ownership to creditors. In 2014, Reuters reported that Sekisui House was acquiring the property for 74 billion Yen (approx. US$724 million USD at the time).

Completion is tentatively scheduled for June 2024.
