Snow Peak to open housing subdivision this year

Outdoor lifestyle brand Snow Peak is expanding its resort development in Niigata to include housing.

34 housing lots and 8 rental apartments will be built around a public square in the ‘Nokiro-no-mura’ named development, covering a 2.2 hectare site. The surrounding area of Wano has a population of 4,000 and is about 30 kilometers south of Niigata City and 15 kilometers north-west of Sanjo City.

Snow Peak won’t be doing this alone, they have tied up with a Niigata-based realtor/developer and an architectural firm. The total cost of the project has not been announced. Completion is expected by October 2022.

Homes will be designed with wood decks and enough space to enjoy outdoor living, a key theme for the lifestyle brand. Exteriors of the homes will be clad in locally-sourced wood. A commercial zone will have shops, restaurants, a guesthouse area, and a community plaza for residents to enjoy barbecues and picnics in the warmer months.

This spring, Snow Peak’s Field Suite Spa Headquarters is scheduled to open in nearby Sanjo City. It will have a 240-person spa, 65-seat restaurant, and three villas.
