Construction has now started on a 52-story mixed-use development alongside Nihonbashi River. The 284-meter tall tower will include 100 luxury residences on the top four floors. A further 50 apartments will be included in the 7-story low-rise building alongside the river.

The Nihonbashi 1 Chome Central District Redevelopment is one of the leading redevelopment projects currently underway around the Nihonbashi River, with four other projects also in the works.

The 3-hectare site will include a riverside deck and promenade, with plans for a boat mooring for sightseeing tours.

Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts will be opening Japan’s first Waldorf branded hotel on floors 39 to 47, with the 197-room hotel scheduled to open in 2026. Hotel rooms and apartments in the main tower will be at a height of over 200 meters above ground level, with a lobby offering sweeping views over Tokyo Bay and towards Tokyo Tower.

Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects is in charge of the project design. This design firm was also behind Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower and Nihonbashi Muromachi Mitsui Tower.
