Residents of luxury Tokyo high-rise ordered to move out

A major construction company is writing up a 9 billion Yen (US$83 million) extraordinary loss after a recently-built high-rise condominium in Tokyo was found to have some interior defects. All residents in the several-hundred unit tower will have to temporarily move out while these issues are repaired.

The name of the building and details on the construction issue have not been publicly disclosed by the construction company in order to protect the privacy of the apartments owners and value of their homes. However, there is information floating around on anonymous online message boards. The news went public on April 14 when a tabloid published a detailed article.

The condominium was completed in March 2019. The company has not found any similar issues in other buildings they constructed.
