The trillion-Yen Tokiwabashi Project, under development by Mitsubishi Estate near Tokyo Station, has had an exterior redesign and a few floors added. With an expected height of 390 meters, this will be Japan’s tallest building when completed in 2027.

The most recent plans show a new exterior design, and a total floor count of 63, up from the original 61. Total floor space has increased by 11% to 544,000 sqm (5,853,000 sq.ft).

By including plans to put the adjoining expressway underground and create an underground pedestrian network around Tokyo Station, the developer was able to obtain an allowance to the floor area ratio for the site, lifting it from 1760% to 1860%. The total floor area for the four buildings in the development will be 740,000 sqm (7,962,000 sq.ft).

The commercial tower will include office space, a luxury hotel, hall, retail, and an observation floor. Construction is scheduled to start in 2023 with completion by 2027.
