Hiramatsu, a fine-dining and wedding function company, will be opening a boutique luxury hotel in Kyoto in March 2020.
The Hiramatsu Kyoto will differ from their current resort-based hotels, offering guests a prime location in the center of Kyoto city. The hotel will reconstruct the facades of the former machiya townhouses that once fronted onto the street, with a new 5-story hotel to be built behind.
Nakamura Koumuten, highly regarded as the best carpentry firm in Japan, is in charge of the hotel design.
The 29 guest rooms will range in size from 54 ~ 104 sqm (581 ~ 1,119 sq.ft).
In 2015, Hiramatsu announced plans to enter the luxury hotel business with the formation of Hiramatsu Hotels & Resorts. They have since opened resort-style hotels in Kashikojima, Atami, Hakone, and Okinawa.
