A minka, or kominka, is an old house built in a traditional Japanese style. These houses can be found all over Japan with styles varying across regions. The wood used in a kominka can last 200 to 300 years and is highly valuable as a building product as it can be re-used in other homes.
The two main types of minka are farmhouses (noka) and town houses (machiya).
