This was the site of the former Harajuku Danchi public housing complex dating from 1957. Apartment owners from the former danchi received new apartments in The Jingumae Residence as compensation.

Construction of The Jingumae Residence was completed by the end of April 2013, and apartments were ready to move into from early August.
