The owner of the Kaisuo Villa estate in Kyoto’s Sakyo-ku is donating the Inabata Villa to the Kyoto Institute of Technology.
The European-style villa forms part of the Kaiuso Villa estate which was purchased by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison in 2010. Although the purchase price is unknown, the asking price was 8 billion Yen.
The land was once part of the nearby Nanzen-ji Temple. During the Meiji Restoration, the temple’s grounds were seized by the government. Wealthy Japanese then built luxurious holiday villas with large gardens. A total of 15 villas were built in the area. Read More
