Registration tax (called 'toroku menkyo zei') is paid when you are registering the transfer of ownership of land and buildings.

Registration is usually carried out by a judicial scrivener who can provide you with an estimate of the registration tax. The buyer may nominate the judicial scrivener they wish to use.
