Omotesando is Japan’s fashion capital. It is home to the boutiques of some of Japan’s top designers as well as international luxury labels such as Prada, Givenchy and Balenciaga. The area also has educational facilities including the Aoyama Gakuin University, British School and the United Nations University.

The Omotesando neighbourhood, which includes Minami Aoyama, Kita Aoyama and Jingumae, is the most desirable and sought-after area to live in central Tokyo. Demand for both new and old properties is high while supply is extremely limited. Development sites are also in short supply which has limited the future supply of new apartments in this district.

The majority of residential properties that appear on the market in this area are apartments. Although there are luxuriously designed homes, they are tightly held and rarely offered for sale. In 2013 and 2014, apartments around Omotesando Station saw the highest capital gains in Tokyo. According to Tokyo Kantei, apartments were worth 1.84 times their original price over the past 10 years.
