On June 25, film studio Toho announced plans to redevelop the Toho Twin Tower building in Yurakucho, Tokyo. Construction giant Takenaka Corporation will be in charge of planning and construction. 

Toho Twin Tower was built in 1969. The 9-storey building has a total floor area of 16,700 sqm and sits on a 1,500 sqm site located directly across the street from the Peninsula Hotel and the recently opened Tokyo Midtown Hibiya complex. The 3rd ~ 6th and 8th floors are office space, with the Toho Dance Hall located on the 7th floor. The architect was Yoshiro Taniguchi (1904-1979).

The building will close at the end of 2019, with demolition to start in 2020. The new building is expected to be completed by 2023. It will have 11 floors and a total floor area of 16,697 sqm.
