Reported sales of second-hand apartments across greater Tokyo in April 2019 reached 3,440 units, up 6.3% from the previous year and the highest level seen for the month of April since REINS began collecting data in 1990.

The average sale price was 33,990,000 Yen, down 2.6% from the previous month but up 1.0% from last year. The average price per square meter was 532,900 Yen, down 1.3% from the previous month but up 2.4% from last year. 

In the Tokyo metropolitan area, 1,818 apartments were reported to have sold, up 8.3% from last year. The average sale price was 42,760,000 yen, down 2.1% from the previous month but up 2.2% from last year. The average price per square meter was 708,100 Yen, down 1.4% from the previous month but up 2.7% from last year. 

Central Tokyo’s 3 wards

Central Tokyo’s 3 wards of Chiyoda, Chuo and Minato had 217 sales, up 14.2% from last year and the first year-on-year increase since March 2018. The average sale price was 65,400,000 Yen, down 4.1% from the previous month but up 8.8% from last year. The average price per square meter was 1,184,500 Yen, down 0.6% from the previous month but up 12.2% from last year. The average apartment size was 55.22 sqm (594 sq.ft).
