According to Tokyo Kantei, the average asking price of a 70 sqm (753 sq.ft) second-hand apartment across greater Tokyo was 36,400,000 Yen in August, up 0.2% from the previous month and up 2.1% from last year. The average building age was 23.9 years.

In Tokyo’s 23 wards, the average asking price was 54,060,000 Yen, up 0.6% from the previous month and up 1.3% from last year. In central Tokyo’s six wards (Chiyoda, Chuo, Minato, Shinjuku, Bunkyo and Shibuya) the average asking price was 75,690,000 Yen, up 0.3% from the previous month and up 2.4% from last year. Average asking prices in the city center are now up 46.5% from mid-2012, when the market was at a bottom.

Yokohama City saw asking prices drop 1.2% from the previous month to 30,790,000 Yen, while year-on-year asking prices are up 0.5%.
