Major Japanese real estate company Mitsui Fudosan and Meiji Shrine are planning to develop a 13-story, 400-room hotel to be located directly across the street from the Olympic Stadium.
If approved, construction of the 50-meter tall building could start in January 2018 with completion by mid-2019.
The site is located above Kokuritsu-Kyogijo Station on the Oedo Line. The hotel will replace the 86-year old Jingu-Gaien Futsal Club which was originally opened in 1930 as the Jingu Pool. An adjoining skate rink was added in 1963, a year before Tokyo hosted the Summer Olympics.
An allowance to the building volume ratio will increase the maximum floorspace from its current level of 200% to 350%, allowing a hotel with a total floor area of approximately 15,800 square meters (170,000 sq ft).
